SILVIA GÓMEZ

Licenciada en Derecho (J.D. equivalent) and Notary Public graduated with honours from the Escuela Libre de Derecho University. Specialized in Criminal Law, she graduated from the Sistema de Estudios de Posgrado (Postgraduate Studies System) of the Universidad de Costa Rica. She has been a member of the Colegio de Abogados de Costa Rica (Costa Rican Bar Association) since 1994. She currently is a legal advisor in Corporate, Banking, Financial Criminal Law and real estate. She has participated in national and international banking transactions, as well as the consultancy, majorly in the financial system, of civil litigation related to bankrupt companies. She has been advisor attorney in criminal processes related to fraud and other related crimes committed against the financial sector. Among her research documents and publications we find: "La Verdad Material y la Verdad Consensual en el Nuevo Proceso Penal Costarricense” (The Material Truth and the Consensual Truth in the New Costa Rican Criminal Process), “El Lavado de Dinero en Costa Rica” (The Money Laundering in Costa Rica), “El Fideicomiso como Instrumento de Garantía” (The Trust as a Guarantee Instrument) y “El Principio de Inviolabilidad de la Defensa”(The Principle of the Inviolability of Defense).
